I received so many beautiful wishes of love and abundance this week . Thank you to everyone who posted on my Facebook wall, called, sent emails and cards or IM’d me. I love hearing from all of you. I received so much love that I am sending it out and sharing it with all of you. Enjoy!
Valentines Day is a double day for me because it is also my Birthday. It is a true day of love and celebration. I have always felt that Valentine’s Day should be a Statutory Holiday that everyone has off of work.
I know that not everyone shares my passion Valentine’s Day. One person on facebook told me that “Love was just in the movies.” another woman who I met at a nail salon on Valentine’s Day, told me that she “wasn’t feeling it (the love) anymore and wondered how one stays married for many years”.
I know that we are programmed to look for love to be the same as in the movies. The couple finally finds one another by the end of the movie and we are left believing that they live happily ever after. The truth is that what we see at the end of the movie is really just the beginning of the relationship. We are still individuals when we marry. We have different thoughts, beliefs, emotions, expectations, and feelings. This is the challenge. How do we navigate through all of this with someone else?
I believe that it starts with ourselves. The relationship that we have with ourselves is the most important one we have. It is also the one we spend the least amount of time on.
Give yourself the gift of time; time to get to know yourself and love the person that you are. Choose to spend time on yourself and with yourself. You will be amazed at what you learn. The interests that you discover you have, the talents that you discover, the confidence that you discover that you really have and finally the ability to know how to handle life situations with ease, simplicity and joy.
The more that you know and love yourself, the more others will know and love you. It all starts with you!
